Manufacturing technology of nano-structured anisotropic conductive films with tailored architecture under electromagnetic field for electronics and biomedical applications

Romania Norway

The planned R&D will develop, optimize and demonstrate on a pilot line the innovative manufacturing technology of nano-structured anisotropic conductive films with tailored architecture under electromagnetic field.Such unique anisotropic conductive films are conceptually based on a tailored chain architecture, to be defined during the manufacturing process under electromagnetic field, in order to align nano/micro-particles in a polymer mixture. The process comprises: 1) homogenous dispersion of certain nano/micro-particles in a liquid polymer, 2) chain-generation tailored under electromagnetic field and 3) final polymer curing for particle-locking. The obtained chains form permanent pathways through the material, which have potential for new electronics and biomedical applications. The consortium expressed its clear and firm intention to demonstrate not only the feasibility of the proposed technology, but also that the proposed technology leads to innovative market oriented end-products, materials and technologies at micro/nano-scale. The potential application areas identified so far are: ECG electrodes, anisotropic conductive / thermally conductive films for printed electronics.
